First Minnesota Sunday!

It's our first Sunday in Minnesota! I already feel like we hit the parish jackpot with this one.
Beautiful music, great preaching, and learning, spiritual growth, and community opportunities galore!

We got lucky that today also happened to be the Sunday of the Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast benefit. After mass we got to go down and have yummy food while meeting new people.

Y'all, people are super friendly here! For each person we met they had 3+ people they wanted to introduce us to. We got invited to dinners, set up with homeschool group info, and Matt already has his Knights of Columbus paperwork in progress.

After spending many years as the only family with young kids at the early morning mass, we were thrilled to see so many families with littles all over the full church. Then we were told this was actually a very lightly attended mass as today is Confirmation day for the diocese and most families will be at the Basilica today. It just gets better!

We're still waiting on the moving truck to get here, but they say it should be this Tuesday. I cannot wait to have a functioning kitchen again! I wrote up my tips for moving with young kids over here.

Here's what we wore for My Sunday Best with Rosie at A Blog For My Mom!

Kid take away from Therese on our way out the door: "That's a very nice church."

Dress: Kohls
Belt: JC Penny
Shoes: Nordstrom
Infinity Veil: Veils By Lily
Bump: 20 weeks!
Yesterday was the 20 week mark for baby - halfway there! Tomorrow is our anatomy scan when we will (hopefully) find out if it's a boy or girl in there. The kids are currently campaigning for boy after almost a month of saying girl. I'm still trying to convince them that this is not a democratic process.

We have a likely boy name but zip zero ideas for girl names. If this baby is a girl I will need all the suggestions! We like saints names preferably and I'm good with uncommon ones.

  1. Such a great read!! I am so, so, so happy you found a vibrant parish that was welcoming! I am a major introvert, so meeting new people every couple years is tough for me. I feel as though I was giddy, reading your experience!

Hopefully getting your household goods goes smoothly, and there are no delays.

Finally, you look spectacular! You rock!

    1. It is when I'm lucky to be an extrovert, but even my introvert husband does well when the people are this easy to connect with!
Even with the crazy delay of the moving truck, we're still managing pretty fine. But the first meal cooked from scratch in our kitchen eaten off real dishes is going to taste so good!

  2. Yay for a positive move! My DH is a fellow KoC. And beautiful dress! Hildegard of Bingen is a pretty awesome saint--just depends on how you feel about the name! Have you seen this list? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QFDgUJN3H7FbaM8dVyU6n0FxQ-BdaKo647-dkZWC26o/edit#gid=681707097

    1. We're so lucky to live close to this parish! Now the trick will be finding a house to buy in the next year that is also reasonably close to it.

  4. Yes, what everyone above has said 😊 I'm excited for you! And I just picked up a book on women saints, so just for fun I flipped it open for a suggestion for you... How about Apollonia? :) You could call her "Apple"for short... Though you would probably have to constantly explain that no, you did not name your girl after the Coldplay guy's daughter... :D

    1. Hahaha! Part of me is hoping that it's a boy just so we don't have to spend forever coming up with a girl name, but that's not a good reason and baby is going to be what it's going to be.

  7. oh your baby bump is soo cuuute!!! I'm so glad you found a good parish. Kid friendly parishes are a MUST!

Here's a girl baby name that's been on my list: Sharbell. It's an alternate spelling of Charbel. Who is a saint. A man saint, whom I know very little about. But who would name their baby boy a "belle" name nowadays? So I'd totally use it for a girl. I just think it's one of the prettiest name ever!

I'm looking forward to knowing what name you guys pick out!!!
